Dental emergencies are stressful! But never more so than when you’re traveling. The good news is that with the right team on your side, you can rest assured things will work out. Ridgefield Perfect Smile Center is here for you, and whether you’re a patient of record, or an out of town guest, we’re happy to help guide you through your dental emergency in Ridgefield. When you know what to do, your situation may not be as stressful, so here are some tips for handling common dental emergencies.

A Knocked Out Tooth

If your tooth is knocked out it’s important that you contact Ridgefield Perfect Smile Center right away because we have the best chance of saving your tooth within one hour of your accident or injury. Be sure to handle the tooth as little as possible and transport it carefully. Placing it back in its socket is best if possible, if not, transport it in a cup or baggie filled with milk to keep the cells moist and alive.

Dental Pain or Infection

If you’re experiencing a tooth that is sensitive to hot or cold, or is constantly aching, this can indicate a dental infection. It’s important to note that a dental infection won’t go away without treatment, so it’s crucial that you contact our office right away. Root canal therapy can preserve an infected tooth when you act quickly. An infection left untreated could potentially spread to other areas of the body and even lead to tooth loss.

A Chipped or Broken Tooth

A chipped tooth should be assessed no matter how small the chip may be. Even a small fracture can cause irritation to your cheeks and soft tissues. For larger fractures, bring the pieces of your tooth to our office so our doctors can determine the best treatment for your tooth.

Soft Tissue Injuries

Injuries to your gums, lips, or cheeks tend to bleed a lot, so the first step is to contain the bleeding. Using a cold compress applied with light pressure should stop it. Contact our office for further instruction after the bleeding has stopped.

Our doctors make every effort to see emergency patients as soon as possible and we even offer extended evening hours. If you or a loved needs an emergency dentist in Ridgefield, we encourage you to contact Ridgefield Perfect Smile Center.
